Roger Layton to present paper at Oral History Conference

Roger Layton will be presenting a paper at the 8th National Oral History Conference in Mafikeng 11-14 October 2011.

His paper concerns a new approach to preparing documented biographies in order to capture the massive interconnections between individual histories and to pave the way for a future model of advanced searching among large number of biographies and snippets of biographical narratives.

This paper has been co-authored by Zdena Mtetwa of Khulumani, in conjunction with Marjorie Jobson, and has used specific examples from the Khulumani's extensive archives of biographies.

The paper is entitled "A 'Linked Data' approach to biographical documentation - a case study of unsung struggle heroes".
